-
Decide where you want
your green by chipping to an area in your yard.
-
The turf rolls are 12' 3" wide
so you will need to think in terms of 6', 12', 24', 36' etc. when planning
your green. The rolls are easily seamed together) Choose desired
length and we will cut your rolls to that length.
-
Use an extension cord or rope
and lay it out in the shape that you would like. Now spray paint the
design on the ground and remove cord or rope.
-
When building in ground remove
4" of topsoil from your area. When building above ground scalp down
grass. Now lay weed barrier over entire area and cover with fine
crush gravel (1/4" minus)
-
Rake out gravel to desired
contour. (Rain water runs off the top of the turf) Slope 1"
every 12' for proper drainage and to provide break on the green.
-
The gravel should be compacted
to 4" depth and contoured to your liking. Do not have any soup bowls
on your base.
-
Take out your putter and check
the ball roll in different directions to check your sub base.
-
Decide on hole location(s) and
cement hole(s) in place.
-
While cement is setting up
stretch out turf to prepare for installation.
-
Stretch out turf roll(s)
squared over your area. Lay 50 lb. infill bags on turf to keep in
place. If seaming rolls together cut straight along the stitching to
perfectly match both rolls together. Check that it fits properly
before applying adhesive and tape. Fold back turf. Small
bubbles or wrinkles will disappear after filling process.
-
Lay out tin flashing on the
gravel base at the seam for the tape to set on.
-
Lay out tape and spread
adhesive on tape. Fit turf back together pressing firmly. Step
on each side of seam for the whole length ensuring contact. Now
place 50 lb. bags on edge of seam and allow 1 - 2 hours for adhesive to
set up. Fringe seams are done exactly the same way. Remove tin
flashing before filling.
-
Now you are ready to apply the
infill. The turf fibers are bent over from the roll, you should
broom against the fibers to help stand up the fibers allowing the infill
to fall into the turf. Once the fibers are standing up slightly you
can start to apply the infill. To avoid burying any fibers spread
the infill at a slow rate at the start. After each application broom
against the fibers and the infill will disappear into the turf. Once
the fibers are standing straight and some infill is supporting it you can
apply infill at a faster rate. Repeat this process until the green
is completely full then sweep around excess until it won't disappear into
the turf.
-
Locate your hole(s). Use
a new blade for every hole. Carefully cut out by cutting an x through the hole, now trim the edges of
the cup.
-
After the first heavy rainfall
apply more infill as it will settle into place.
-
Say Good bye to 3 putts.
